Grid carbon intensity

Also: gco2 per kwh · grid intensity

Grid carbon intensity is the grams of CO₂ emitted per kilowatt-hour of electricity on a given grid, which varies widely by region and time (≈40 gCO₂/kWh on a low-carbon grid vs ≈400+ on a fossil-heavy one). The same AI workload can have very different emissions depending on where it runs — so region choice is a real lever on AI carbon.
